New automated finishing system expands in-house capacity for wide-format graphics, signage, retail displays and flexible printed media.

GARFIELD, NJ — August 2, 2026 — Product Identification Company, Inc. (PIC) has expanded its wide-format cutting and finishing capabilities with the installation of a Fotoba XLD 170 automatic X/Y cutting system at its Garfield, New Jersey production facility.

Automated X/Y Cutting for Wide-Format Graphics

Designed for roll-fed and sheet-fed flexible materials, the new system can process printed media up to 67 inches wide. Fotoba’s image-edge tracking technology follows the edges of printed graphics and compensates for media misalignment, helping PIC produce consistently square, accurately finished graphics from long production rolls.

The XLD 170 performs straight-line trimming along both axes, automating repetitive cutting that would otherwise require individual manual handling. The system is designed for rectangular graphics and repeated print layouts, complementing PIC’s contour cutting, routing, laser cutting and steel-rule die-cutting equipment.

The Fotoba XLD 170 complements PIC’s existing wide-format digital printing platforms, including the Canon Colorado M-Series, HP Latex, Roland, Mimaki and EFI VUTEk systems. Its 67-inch cutting capacity closely matches the output width of PIC’s wide-format roll printers, helping move projects efficiently from printing through final trimming.

For customers, this expanded workflow supports more consistent finished dimensions, cleaner square edges, increased finishing capacity, reduced manual trimming and improved turnaround potential. It also allows more of the production process to remain under one roof.
